There is a very-long bridge in Stockholm that stretches from Langholmen to Marieberg. At its apex, there is a sign. And beneath the sign is a cluster of padlocks: some locked to the bridge itself; some to each other.
On each padlock is hand-written the names of two people, often with a heart or some other affectation.
I’m not sure what it means exactly. The symbolism is obvious: the establishing of some connection of permanency between two people. But this bridge feels a bit “suicidey”, so I’m not sure whether this little monument is very sweet and romantic and adorable, or some testament to something tragic I don’t understand … and never will.
